What is Corten Steel and how does it weather?
Corten Steel is a high-strength, atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel. It develops a protective, rust-like patina over time when exposed to the elements. This layer acts as a barrier against further corrosion, meaning your garden features will last for decades without needing maintenance.
Do you deliver throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland?
Yes, we provide nationwide delivery across all 32 counties. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the weight and dimensions of your order. For oversized items like large fire pits or water tables, we use specialized pallet delivery services.
Will the rust from the steel stain my patio or driveway?
During the initial 'weathering' phase (the first 6-9 months), some runoff may occur which can cause staining on porous surfaces like light-colored stone or concrete. We recommend placing your Corten products on gravel or grass until the protective patina has fully stabilized.
How long does it take for the product to develop its orange color?
Products often arrive in a dark grey, unweathered state. Depending on the Irish weather conditions, the orange-brown patina usually begins to form within 2 to 4 weeks and reaches full maturity within 6 to 12 months.
Can I return a product if it is not suitable?
Yes, we offer a 14-day return policy for standard stock items, provided they are in their original, unweathered condition. Please note that custom-fabricated pieces or items that have already begun the oxidation process may not be eligible for return.
